IDA2 at the 2017 Zero To Three San Diego Conference

The IDA-2 was introduced to Zero To Three Conference participants to learn about how infant and toddler mental health is integrated into developmental assessment. Kyle Pruett M.D. IDA-2 co-author and ZTT past Board President welcomed the group and gave a brief IDA history and overview. The presentation panel included Susan Vater, IDA co-author and IDA Institute CEO, Kimberly Martini Carvell, Help Me Grow National Center Director at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC), and Caryn Tembruell, IDA Coordinator at Helping Guiding Hands (HGH) in El Cajon, California. The presentation, ‘Integrating infant and toddler mental health into developmental assessment’ focused on the growing attention on increasing numbers of children identified with mental health and behavioral concerns and why integrating psychosocial and child development skills is more essential than ever to strengths- based, family- centered, developmental assessment. The session introduced IDA2, the newly updated Second Edition of one of the first assessments to integrate social, emotional, and coping milestones into comprehensive global developmental assessment with attention to parent report and health variables The IDA was originally developed by Sally Provence, MD one of the Zero To Three founders and past Board of Directors President, and her colleagues at Yale, Joanna Erikson MPH, Susan Vater Ed.M and Saro Palmeri MD. The IDA-2 added co-authors Kyle Pruett and Jennifer Rosinia. We met many colleagues from across the country working in a range of disciplines, organizations, and practice and enjoyed lively discussion together.
